I’m trying on a new venue for my blog. It was suggested to me that word press is the best hosting site for blogs; so after finally getting comfortable on ‘Blog Spot’, I am learning a new system! Therefore I am giving myself a heap of credit for learning a different blogging system and for making a new post soon after my “end of April” one (on blog spot). But gosh, I’m feeling a bit like a slut, moving from one blog shop to another, but how do you know unless you sample? I am the same way with hairdressers…I establish a relationship with one, and then I leave them to try the next, new best salon.
May has me settling into my Taos studio, after being on the road to North Carolina and spending several weeks in Denver with family. I’ve not yet achieved any sort of order in my space, but I’m feeling mighty grateful for the familiar well-loved, paint covered, surroundings. After painting for over 10 hours yesterday, I completed only one composition, but did add significant “layering” to the 7 other works in progress. This morning I put plaster in areas of paintings which were too complex and too dark, and then drove into town to hear a social marketing download with my artist friend, Paula Jones.
The good news about the social media seminar is: I understood much of what they were saying whereas last year this time, I did not. The “less- good” news….well, I still have much to figure out.
However, because of the social networking teleconference I listened to last week, I set up a fan page and I am very pleased with the positive feedback. I am receiving great encouragement from my “fans” (that term really makes me feel popular) and have made contact with other artists who inspire me; I have even landed a teaching gig and a couple possible painting sales. Thanks to everyone!
The golden light on Taos Mountain has faded and I realize it is 9 pm…no wonder my eyes are weary. Tomorrow is another day…and another return to the studio.
I think I’ll wear my pink boots again! Be well…and stay in touch.
